Hampshire Championships
Three of our young athletes from St Peter's CE Junior School, took part in the individual Hampshire Championships in Portsmouth (see picture 3). They each had fantastic success with Beth Walker winning two gold medals in the Balance Beam and 2-Lap race, Emma Bolus winning bronze in the Balance Beam and Stefan Gadd winning bronze in both the Long Jump and 3-Lap race. Well done to all involved!
Sports Coaching Opportunities
Each of the schools within the Yateley family were offered a range of sports coaching opportunities for the Autumn Term. These included activities such as Judo, Orienteering, Netball, Multi-skills and Soccer, to name just a few.
Active Mark
It is a significant achievement that all of the schools within the Yateley Family have been awarded the Active Mark 2007 which rewards delivery of the national PE, School Sport and Club Links strategy.
Mrs Denise Powell - Headteacher, Westfields Infant School
"At Westfields we recognise the importance of physical activity for our children. We meet the full requirements of the National Curriculum through a programme that includes gymnastics, dance and games using indoors and outdoors as appropriate. We teach swimming in Years 1 and 2 using the junior school pool. We employ a specialist sports coach who teaches a range of games during the school day and at lunchtime, as well as football clubs after school. We benefit through our involvement with the Extended Schools' Project, enabling us to offer a range of varied sports activities after school during the year."
